Damages to the house caused by nearby constructions

Hi Uncle Chung,

Recently there is a nearby condo project started constructions. It is just next to my property, which is also a condo completed in 2009. During the daytime on weekdays and Saturday, their pile hammer has made big noise and further more, caused my building vibrating. Last week we observed that there are cracks on my walls which were never caused by us. The cracks are small and everywhere, apply to the coating on my walls. I hence reported the case to my building management and BCA. May I know what actions I can take? Is it reasonable to ask for repairment fee or compensation? Many thanks.

First the piling, in Singapore there are restrictions on the time piling is carried out but piling on weekends is allowerd.
As for the cracks, if yours is a HDB you should complain to the area office; in case of a condominium your management office. You would need a surveyor to ascertain the serious and the cause of the cracks first
