They are looking for someone who has solid hands on experience on Unix-Linux system as well as Wintel system. Candidate who has project experience on Unix, active directory would be preferable. If the employee has other interests, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn other technologies.

Job Description

Title of Position: Unix – Linux Administrator

To provide the required skills sets to design, optimize and enhance the current Unix, Linux, EMS SAN system performances by introducing new technology or operation procedures. The roles involve tuning of existing system, implementation, manage and ensure the smooth operation of a range of Unix, Linux, EMC SAN related systems.
In addition, to ensure the Global Systems KPIs set by management are met and user problems are resolved in the most efficient manner.

The Person:
Diploma or degree in information system or equivalent
Knowledge of Redhat Linux (must have), Unix AIX, HPUX & EMC Storage
At least 4 years solid hand on experience in Unix, Linux installation, creation, system administration, backup, recovery, tuning and security
Upgrade of Unix, Linux Patches
Migrating of different OS version
Expertise in design, implement and management of Unix, Linux Servers, EMC Storage using related management tools.

The Job:
He/She is expected to perform daily operations for Unix, Linux system and administrations and Management. Providing technical resolution on system related reported problem.

Project support – To provide technical advises and solutions for projects. To design and build system environment in order to meet the application requirements. He or she is required to provide end-to-end support for system related scope during project implementation.

Operations support – To follow the operational processes and procedures to ensure the integrity of the systems and services. To monitor & report the availability and performance of all managed system. To participate in 24x7x365 second level support team. The team supports the global primary and disaster recovery data centre for company covering operational support for all regions (AM, EU, AP)

Service Planning & Trend Analysis – To perform problem analysis & rectification and analyze the trends and indicators of statistical data and recommend appropriate action to improve overall efficiency of the operation. To carry out pro-active maintenance in order to minimize unplanned outages and eliminate poor performance.

Service Improvement – To be responsible for the system environment, with the overall objectives of improving service levels, simplifying the infrastructure, and reducing costs. To include backup strategies, system monitoring, performance tuning etc.

Develop, document and maintain System and user manual, operation, and disaster recovery procedures. Cross training for all members of the support team.

Maintain relationship with external support providers and act as the first point contact regarding technical issues.

Administer security procedures in conjunction with company security personnel to ensure the integrity of system and date. Review, test, and apply patches changes or other modifications to system and supporting scripts.
