1. Mechanical Engineer
Location: Shanghai

ABB Corporate Research, in close collaboration with varied ABB business areas, is developing the foundations for the next generation of ABB products. In China, ABB Corporate Research is located in Beijing and Shanghai. Beijing research departments are focusing on power system and power technology, while Shanghai research department is focusing on robotics technology.
Fields of Work:
We are looking for an Engineer with sound experiences in robot and mechatronic component modeling. You have done research in these fields and have gained deep experiences in modeling robot motion or robot components like gears, motors, bearings etc. These experiences made you rethink about robot design technologies and created new ideas and concepts that you are willing to investigate more in details. As a member of Corporate Research you will execute such industrial robotics research projects either as a team member or project manager to help turning them into innovative products. You will work in close cooperation with the local robotics department as well as with other research teams in Sweden, Germany and the US to synchronize your work.
Job Responsibilities:
Independently perform R&D work for supporting the robotics business units
Apply and develop modeling technologies for robot components and engineering technologies for robot applications
Design and setup of lab test beds for experimental practical work
Technology Surveys and Pre-studies
Write technical reports and articles/papers in English
Support other development projects and ABB business support projects
Project management
Job Requirements:
MSc. with experience or PhD in mechanical engineering
Solid background in robotics (robot design experiences preferred)
Knowledge on modeling mechanical components (gearbox knowledge preferred)
Analytical, open minded for new solutions, creative and business oriented thinking
Likes difficult tasks and challenges for solving technical problems; self motivated to learn and to investigate into new things
Very Good command of written & spoken English
Good communication and presentation skills
Team player with high level of initiative for global cooperation and knowledge-sharing

2. Experienced Robotics Automation Engineer
Location: Shanghai

You have executed projects for engineering and commissioning new robot production lines or have been on site as a field engineer. These hands-on experiences should have made you rethink robot technology and have brought up new ideas and concepts that you are willing to investigate more in details. As a member of Corporate Research you will execute such industrial robotics research projects either as a team member or project manager to help turning them into innovative products. You will work in close cooperation with the local robotics department as well as with other research teams in Sweden, Germany and the US to synchronize your work.

Testing and experimental practical work, like setting-up lab tests and perform tests

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements
Sound background knowledge in discrete automation including robots, PLCs, drives and their engineering tools
MSc with at least three year of work experience in the field of robot applications
Analytical, open minded for new solutions, creative and action oriented

3. Mechatronic Engineer for lab setups
Location: Shanghai

We are looking for a Mechatronic Engineer to turn our concepts into proven results by independently set up and run test beds in our labs. As part of our project teams you will be responsible for the design, purchasing and onsite assembly of test beds as well as the execution of test series according to projects needs. This requires a high sense of creativity and will-to-achieve as well as a commitment to high quality to get solid results. You need to have experiences in working with CAD tools for designing electrical installations and mechanical setups and will to learn new things. You can expect interesting and challenging tasks that are limited by available technology only and make you think below the limits.
Main Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Electrically and mechanically design and set up of test beds to support R&D work in the field of discrete automation
Testing and experimental practical work by independently executing tests in lab
Develop international network and cooperation with ABB companies and external partners
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements
MSc in mechatronic engineering
Experiences in designing electrical and mechanical automation solutions
Solidworks or similar 3d mechanical CAD software
Eplan or similar electrical CAD software
Technically delft for setting up mechanical and electrical installations onsite
Analytical, open minded for new solutions, creative and action oriented
Likes difficult tasks and challenges, open minded to learn new things
Good English skills in written and oral
Team player with high level of initiative and pragmatic approach
