One research engineer position in Data Storage Institute for a chemistry or bio-E major
Data Storage Institute (DSI) has established one cross-field project on development of advanced nanoparticles/nanostructures for advanced contrast-enhanced bioimaging and cancer cell diagnosis. The project is a joint effort among the DSI team, NUS and NTU professors. Currently we seek for a PhD degree holder for the position of a Senior Research Fellow.

Future job functions:
Designing and simulation of advanced metallic nanostructures and nanoparticles based on E-M field theory and commercial S/Ws;
Nanofabrication to generate the nano structured patterns with nanolithographic methods;
Characterization of nanopatterns and nanoparticles with various of advanced instrumentation such as SEM and AFM;
Operation of the customized imaging and spectroscopy system for biomedical applications;
Preparation of technical and project documentation.

Requirement
A PhD degree majored in ECE / EEE / physics / material science from a well-recognized institution;
The ability of communicating in good spoken and written English;
Fundamental knowledge, PhD research training and working experience on one or more of the following areas:
– Maxwell equations and E-M field theory;
– Light – matter interaction;
– Simulation of nanophotonics, metallic plasmonic materials and metamaterials;
Hands-on experience on at least two commercial S/Ws such as Mathematica, FDTD, Matlab, COMSOL, CST;
The following experience and skills are advantageous but not compulsory;
– Nanolithography techniques - the new staff will be trained for necessary nanofabrication techniques;
– Control Graphic User Interface design with Labview or any C language;
– Biomedical applications with nanopatterns or metallic nanoparticles.

Minimum Qualifications:
A PhD candidate who have submitted the thesis or will submit thesis within two month

Currently we seek for a Singapore citizen or a PR with a master degree or a fresh graduate with at least the 2nd upper honors degree. Enthusiasm fresh graduates are welcome to apply, while one to two year experience in areas related to future job functions will be advantageous.
The candidate is preferred to major in ECE / EEE / physics / material science

Future job functions:
For an ECE/EEE/Physics/materials major:

Nanopattern fabrication with lithographic methods;
Simulation with S/W for nanostructure optimization and nanopattern local E-M field distribution;
Customized imaging and spectroscopy system control and integration.

Requirement
Good spoken and written English;
Solid fundamental knowledge on majored subject;
Self-motivated and fast learner;
Active and considerable team player;
Devoted to research and willing to face technical challenges;
Related experience is not required but advantageous;
Master degree holder is welcomed to apply.

A PhD research direction linked to this project is proposed. A candidate with excellent academic results is encouraged to pursue part time PhD with financial assistance.

Surface chemistry;
Selective biomaterial attachment/immobilization on nanopatterned substrates and nanoparticles.

Requirement
Good spoken and written English;
