Job Title Research Assistant - Computational Statistics in Cancer Biomarker Discovery Research Group Onco-Proteomics Centre, Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore Job Description The post is aimed at developing and testing new computational statistics methods for exploiting the large genomics and proteomics datasets that are arising in cancer biomarker research involving different data mining approaches (artificial intelligence application and multi-variant analyses etc.) and the heterogeneous data integration and analysis. These methodologies are expected to provide both the in silico solutions to discriminate the diseased and the normal tissues with statistical confidence, and the biological senses of the vast amount of data that quickly emerge. You are expected to work with another computer programmer to implement the algorithms based on the existing in-house database system known as SPLASH, under the supervision of Professor Hew Choy Leong, Professor Maxey Chung and Dr. Lin Qingsong of the Onco-Proteomics Centre in DBS. Requirements The ideal applicant should hold at least a good Honours degree or Masters degree in computational statistics or related fields (mathematics, bioinformatics, genomics and computer science). Previous experience with proteomics is not mandatory but desirable. Remuneration & Benefits Salary is between S$30,000-58,200, inclusive of staff benefits, based on qualifications and relevant research experience. Term of Appointment This appointment is for two years, starting 1 October 2005 (later by agreement) and is extendable.
